Everyman's Land shortlisted for Children and Young People's Now Award
Exciting news has just come through about an earlier version of 'Everyman's Land' I worked on in partnership with Bristol Music Service. The show has just been shortlisted for a national Children and Young People’s Now Award under the Arts and Culture section.
The show at The Colston Hall, Bristol on 8th December 2008 was the result of 2 terms of composing, drama and singing workshops in primary schools in the Bristol region, supported by Bristol City Council. To deliver the project, I worked with composer and deputy head of Bristol Music Service, Kate Courage to write 10 new songs, and begin to develop a drama aspect with pupils from Hannah More school.
The Award ceremony is taking place at the Hurlingham Club in London on Thursday Novemeber 26th, and Ed Balls, Children’s Secretary will be attending and delivering the keynote speech for the second year running.
The Bristol project was a fantastic opportunity for me to develop The Everyman's Land concept and produce a musical version of the piece . Some of Kate's hanuting and beautiful music will be heard again in our new theatrical version at The Arc Theatre next March - click below to hear two of her songs from the Bristol show.
